How to get
São Thomé das Letras is in the south of the State of Minas Gerais, near the city of Três Corações.
For those who come from Belo Horizonte or São Paulo the most practical access is by BR381 (Rodovia Fernão Dias), to Três Corações. From there you will take the road to São Bento Abade. Before arriving at this city there is an entrance to São Thomé. From there it is another 20 kilometers.
The tourist from the city of Rio de Janeiro should take the BR116 (Via Dutra) to Engenheiro Passos. From there follow the trip, passing through the cities of Itamonte, Pouso Alto, Caxambu and Cruzília. From the latter to São Thomé the route is made by land (36 km).
For visitors from Southeastern Minas and the State of Espírito Santo, it is best to go to Juiz de Fora (MG) and from there take the BR267 to the entrance of Cruzília. Those who do not want to face the dirt road (Cruzília - Sao Thomé), which is poorly signposted, must continue on BR267 to Cambuquira and from there to Três Corações.

Its privileged location, allied with its rustic air and typically inland miners, in a mountainous point and raised to 1 440 meters above sea level (allowing the observation of practically the whole region around), makes the city a preferred destination of many nature-enthusiastic tourists and of people related to the arts in general, and was even scenery for an old novel of the extinct Rede Manchete.
